Two Year Stats

At Avett's 2 year appt, I believe he was 33" and edging 24 pounds. Both of those numbers were good enough to max him out at the 15th percentile.
He is still wearing size 4 diapers and 18 month old clothing. He wears size 5 shoes.
Avett is starting to do a lot of talking! He will try and repeat anything you ask him to, except: "I love ----." Fill the blank with "you" or any person's name and he won't say it. He gets a rise out of everyone's eager reactions as they wait to hear him say "I love you" "I love mama" "I love papa" but alas he always holds out and laughs instead.
He was (and still is) head over heels in love with cars (and planes and trains). He still likes to line up the cars and spins and twirls while he flies his planes through the air.
He still sits well for books but he doesn't read them quite as frequently. Instead of sitting for a bed time story, he just requests to go straight to bed. He really likes his bed so he has been very good about bed time and waking up; he has a pillow and a couple of small stuffed animals that he keeps in his crib which have helped make this transition.
My big boy loves going to the park. He has gotten very brave and will monkey all over the playground by himself. He has gone up some very high slides all by himself, and I have sat watching while holding my breath.
Now that the bathroom is done, this babe is much better about taking baths!  Though his diaper changing mood is still pretty negative.
And on a very minute note, I have a new favorite cup for Avett to use. It seems like a never ending battle of parenthood is trying to find a sippy cup that won't leave a mess. They all claim to be "no spill" and/or "no drip", but I tell you what, most of them lie! The only time they don't drip is when they are standing up and no one is touching them! I'm kidding, but Avett really does find a way to make a mess out of most of them. But Munchkins has this perfect little sippy cup. It's like $6-8 dollars just for one cup, but it's so worth it! I've wasted a lot more on a bunch more just trying to find one that are true to their claims. I found it at Target but I'm sure they're elsewhere. They have a colorful cup with a white, flat top. No little spout to drink out of. The white part, when taken apart, looks almost like a strainer with a bunch of holes in it. There's a silicone cover that snaps on and suctions over the holes and the only way water comes out is from the pressure of Avett's lips that creates a teeny little hole for water to drip out. Not only is the no drip part fantastic, but it has a very natural lip to it that has helped Avett to transition to a real cup. He doesn't drink from them on his own, but when I offer from my cup, he has much better control and coordination. So since I've just written 700 words about one cup, I suggest if you are looking for one, don't look anywhere else! It's well worth the money!
