I called the doctors office yesterday on my way out of work and surprisingly (thankfully) was able to talk directly to the doctor. I told her that I'm okay with supplementing with formula because I just want her to be getting the nutrition she needs. But Before we switched, I wanted to try her on a reflux medication to get her more comfortable when eating and hopefully more willing to eat more since it wouldn't be as painful. She was totally on board and said she was going to bring that up as well! So I brought her in to the office to get a weight check (12# 8 oz) so that she knew how to properly dose it. We have a follow up appt next Friday to check her weight and then discuss what to do next, good or bad, with the doctor.
She took her first dose of Zantac at 1.8 mL last night (6PM). She cried ☹️. Today I fed it to hr via a nipple and although I had to use a syringe to get that last little bit in her, she didn't cry. It has a very strong minty taste per the doctor and it smells like peppermint schnapps. She had to take it at least 15 minutes prior to eating and take each dose 12 hours apart, so we're doing the 6 o'clock hours.
Here's to hoping for the very best!
Oh I sure hope it helps her feel better and makes feeding time easier!!
