Aaron celebrated his 28th birthday today in the most exciting way that any 28 year old does: working, sleeping, presents and eating!
As Aaron is the head chef in our household, I gave him the night off and did all the cooking. That's right! I bought him his favorite BBQ Chicken Pizza (from his favorite pizza shop, Jet's) and I picked up a strawberry-rhubarb pie with custard from Sendiks (cuz if there's going to be pie, it has to be รก la Mode).
Then he opened his presents.
Unintentionally, he had what ended up to be a pie-themed birthday. Pizza pie, strawberry rhubarb pie, a new pie dish and pie cookbook (Four and Twenty Blackbirds Pie).
And then we topped the night off by falling asleep on the couch while we watched the Olympics.
So a pretty mundane birthday overall. The real party will be this weekend when we head to the Bollwahn homestead, where Aaron and Ashley will get to celebrate their birthdays together! (Happy Birthday Ashley!) Although today was pretty ordinary, the rest of the year is guaranteed to be filled with lots of excitement!
