Sweet 16

I guess since I'm a mom now I should just get used to measuring my life by weeks and months. I had my 16 week appointment yesterday. A pretty standard and mundane event, just asked some questions and got some answers:

Q: my lower back has already been hurting; is there anything I can do to help minimize that?
A: the number one thing is to have good posture (as I'm staring at her all hunched over, looking like Quasimodo)

Q: sometimes when I sleep, my arms go numb. Should I be concerned?
A: nope. Normal. (?!!!?)

Q: I know it's fine to sleep on my back and side, but is it okay to still sleep on my stomach?
A: sleeping on your stomach is fine. Sleeping on your back after 15 weeks is not a good idea. (Worst night of sleep to date since my bumps starting to get in the way on my stomach and I can't keep myself propped to my side)

Q: my mom's a little worried about me painting.
A: don't be, as long as the room is well ventilated. (get ready for more trim work, mom)

Q: snow will be coming right around the corner. Am I okay to shovel?
A: yes. It's good to stay as active as possible (damn. Wish Aaron wasn't around to hear that response)

Q: when will I start to feel the baby moving?
A: because it's your first one probably not until around 18 weeks. You're going to question whether or not you felt anything, because it will feel a lot like gas (well that's super exciting. Way better than picturing butterflies fluttering around in there)

We have our next check up at 20 weeks and have yet to get our anatomy scan scheduled to find out if it's a him or a her. Working on that ASAP so that Auntie Kathryn can stop referring to the baby as a Herm. In the mean time we'll probably just be getting bigger and "feeling gassy".
