Haddie Kay has officially been earthside for as long as she was carried in my womb. It's crazy to think that we have been together for a year and a half! How much life has changed.
She had her 9 month appointment and in three months only gained a pound. Where I think that's really concerning, the doctor is no longer stressing out over this. Her response was "You just birth really big babies and then they turn into munchkins. Her weight at 15# 13 oz dropped her slightly on her growth curve and her height 27.5" is fairly well maintained. Part of the reason the doc isn't concerned about her slow weight gains is the fact that she's on the move now. Haddie is crawling and standing up to furniture (and our big picture window). She is slowly furniture walking and she is very good at controlled sitting. And with much supervision she is crawling up stairs. Now that she's standing, we had to lower the crib so she wouldn't fall out.
She is a very happy baby. Totally in love with her mommy! She gets so excited when mommy goes to wake her up or gets home from work; she revs her arms, kicks her legs and beelines it over to me. And if the gate in the living room is shut, she's nearly hyperventilating until I can come and get her. Separation anxiety is real.
She is mostly just interested in playing with Avett's toys. Avett is very protective over his things and isn't as great at sharing...because obviously it's ridiculous to ask him to share one of his 90 animals with his sister. She loves watching Avett and Harken. Avett gas his jealous moments and likes to copy Haddie for attention.
She is a good eater. We tried her with yogurt again but on Day 2 she was fussy, somewhat rashly and a bit diarrhea-y. So we aborted that plan. She eats puréed and soft adult foods that are easy to mash or ground up. The doctor says she'll be getting more teeth very soon. She eats 3 to 4 6-8 oz bottles a day. Loves puffs, bananas and oatmeal.
She is in size 3 diapers but still in 6 months clothes, starting on some 9 months.
She usually enjoys baths. We no longer use the infant tub and just give baths in the sinks. Avett always pulls a chair over to help (bangs the brush on her head, squirts her with water and steals her toys).
She takes usually 2, sometimes three naps a day. She goes to bed around 630. She loves sleeping with her little cue. It's a total comfort item for her! She usually calms pretty quickly as soon as we give it to her. If she's crying in the car it's most likely because she launched her cow and can't reach him. The love for her cow is the sweetest because it came from her cousins Bodey and Millie to remind her of her angel cousin Millie Moo.
She also likes to have her lamb turned on at nap time and her flower turned on at bedtime.
We're working on getting books into the routine but she usually is just interested in turning it over so that she can see the front.
She has earned the nick names Pipes and Piper because she is a loud squawker! Not great when Avett follows suit at the dinner table and they're both going back and forth screeching and in yelling at them to stop because they're gonna wake Daddy! She most commonly goes by Hads, Haddie Cakes, Goo or Goo Girl. Avett likes to copy us but he also calls her "little gwee" and "bean". "come on Bean!" I call her bean too now but I don't know who started it. I may have and never noticed it until Avett started copying; or I copied him. It's the Chicjeb and the Egg. I don't think we'll ever know.
